Ann – Thank you so much! I’m really glad that you enjoy the site so much. ♥

  3. Mary says:

Hi again ! Just wondering … Are there any pictures of the props crew ? Or are all the pictures on the flickr group ?
    Thanks ! X

  4. Julie says:

Hello, Mary! Hhhmmm… I don’t think I got any photos of them per se, unless they’re in the background somewhere. Sorry! I did get a few photos of actual props during my June 2009 adventures, so that might be of interest to you. I’ll keep your props penchant in mind for next time! :-D ♥

    hi julie
just thought id ask, which are your favourite merlin episodes from season i and 2?.
my eldest son is doing a school project on the merlin series,he is going into it in some great detail, and would like to gain as much info as poss,i am helping him of course.
i may have already asked you this, but are the cast filming in france or the uk at the moment,or are they on a hiatus?
i know you have met the cast on several occasions, but have you also written to them?.
my son has written to various members of the cast about 3 months ago,but as yet he has not received a reply.
if he does get any replies in the near future, then he will include this in his project.
as i said in previous emails,we love your website which obviously you work very hard on,long may it and the merlin series continue.

    cheers,and thanks.

  6. Julie says:

Hello, Karl! I’m really pleased to hear that your son is so very keen on our wonderful show. :-)

My favourite episodes… Gosh, that’s a hard one, but thank you for asking! I honestly think there’s something to love in each and every episode. But I suppose if I had to choose, I’d go for Excalibur and The Labyrinth of Gedref in season one, and The Witchfinder, Sweet Dreams and The Last Dragonlord in the second. What are your favourites…?

The show is filming in France now until 17 June, and will then be back in Wales. I don’t know if they’ll get a break now, until the season is complete.

Yes, I have written to Colin, Bradley and Richard. (More than once to Colin, I have to admit, cos he’s my absolute favourite! Though of course I love them all.) I got responses within a few weeks from Bradley and Richard, but then I was lucky enough to time it well with Bradley – I wrote in January, and I suspect he finally managed to catch up with his backlog before filming started up again. Richard doesn’t have to handle the same commitment of time and effort for the show. Meanwhile, dear Colin has every good intention of catching up with his backlog of fanmail, but I suspect it’s absolutely massive. Given that they’re all very busy now, and I understand that filming is running behind schedule, I’m afraid you might have a bit of a wait. Unfortunately I would suggest your son doesn’t rely on receiving responses for his project.

Thank you very much for your kind words, and especially for being a part of Merlin Locations! You make it a real pleasure.

  7. karl says:

    hi julie
thankyou for your kind words too,and for taking the time to reply to me.
i would have to say that my favourite episodes at the moment are ep 6,8,9,11 and 13 series 1.
    ep 3,4,8,11,12 and 13 series 2.
having said that,my choice changes on a weekly basis.
i myself wrote to bradley and colin in november 2009,and i received a reply back from bradley at the end of jan,and one from colin at the end of feb.
i wrote to katie and anthony in jan of this year, and received a reply from katie at the end of march, and one from anthony early april,so we have had great success so far.

my son did not write to them until the end of march,so i guess they were embroiled in filming by then,so it will obviously be a longer time frame this time round.
we`ll probably write to the cast again when the new series airs in the autumn, and maybe get a chance of seeing the cast in person, who knows…?.

    all the best,bye for now.

  8. Betty says:

    Hello Julie
I am a fan from China, I and the many people who we all liked merlin series, especially like colin’s performance .I want to know when the third quarter will be right? What time would be shown here?

  9. Mary says:

    Hi!
I heard that they filmed ‘in the woods’ when they were in France.
Don’t know what that’s supposed to mean. Anyway can’t wait to see Merlin season 3 !! X

  10. Julie says:

Betty – Hello! It’s really great to hear that ‘Merlin’ is popular in so many places throughout the world, and that Colin’s wonderful performances are appreciated. The third season is being filmed now, and (based on previous years) will be broadcast in the UK from mid September. I hope you enjoy it as much as the first two!

  11. Julie says:

Hello, Mary! Thank you for this. It’s interesting to know that they are still filming exterior scenes in Pierrefonds, even when their time in France was shortened. Not that I blame them – the woods in that area are so very pretty.

I am really looking forward to the third season as well. It’s sounding pretty darned wondeful! :-D

  12. Julie says:

Hello, Karl! I love that you have so many favourite episodes, and that they also change. I think that’s a great reflection on the show. Perhaps different episodes will suit different moods and times…?

I’m delighted to hear that you’ve received responses to your fan mail. I hope that one day I’ll hear from Colin… It’s good to know he’s ticking over with the more recent mail, anyway. Has your son heard back yet? I suspect it will be a while now, as you say. And how did his school project go?

Let’s hope for some more events in September and October, surrounding the new series. It would be great to see them all again, and I’m sure you were all disappointed at missing out on the Expo earlier this year. Fingers crossed for next time!

  13. karl says:

    goodmorning julie
thankyou for your reply,no my son has not had a reply back from the cast as yet,but i`m sure he will at some point maybe when the cast are less busy.
with regard to his school project,he got top marks, and also got a few book tokens as a prize.
so he informs me that he is going to buy the 2011 merlin tv annual, when that comes out.
yes,we were disappointed that we could not make expo earlier this year, but i`m sure we will have more chances soon….!

  14. Julie says:

Hello, Karl! I’m delighted to hear that your son did so well with his project. I’m sure he deserved both the good mark and the tokens. I like his plans to buy the Annual! :-D

Take care, and I hope you’re all enjoying the wamer weather.

  15. Carol says:

Hello everyone! This is the first time I have visited this
websibe. I like Merlin . HaHa ~ I’m from China . I hope I can make friends with you ~ Aii of you .

  16. Julie says:

Hello, Carol! Welcome to Merlin Locations… It’s great to hear from a fan from so far away. ♥ Camelot is everywhere! :-)

  17. Carol says:

Hi,Julie~I’m so excited to see your reply.First let me introduce myself.I’m 17-year-old,a student,so…I’m not good at English.I think my grammar still has many problems, but I hope you could understand what I say.OK!Could you tell me something about you?If you don’t mind. And by the way, have you ever seen colin himself?

  18. Julie says:

Hello again, Carol… I love your enthusiasm! And your English is actually rather good, so I don’t think you need worry too much about that. :-) I am hopelessly monolingual, so I always admire anyone who can say more than ‘Hello’ and ‘Thank you’ in another language. Otherwise – I am rather older than you at 47, and I work freelance as a training content developer with a sideline in web design.

Ah yes, Colin Himself… I have been very lucky! I’ve been in His Presence a few times now, while watching the filming in Pierrefonds, and at various promotional events and autograph queues. He’s kind and lovely, always happy and healthy – and is even more gorgeous in real life than on the screen. I love watching him in Merlin, but I am so looking forward to seeing his career play out over coming decades.

    Thanks for your messages!

  19. Rachel says:

    Hi, just wanted to say,
    i ADORE this site :D
The locations on here have now become my aim to visit, I’ll start with England and then slowly work on the rest.
I have managed to persuade my parents to let me go over to France, so hopefully i’ll get to experience the Chateau for myself! :D

I must say, I’ve been trying to meet Colin and the Cast since the first season, but having only just turned 16, i’m now only old enough to travel without a parent. :’)

Hopefully I’ll have a lucky year, and i’ll get to meet the crew sometime. I’ll definately be checking on your events page regularly from now on.

    Anyway,
Thankyou so much for running this brilliant website :D It’s been so much help for me, and I hope to have the same success as you have had!

    Peace, Love and Magic <3

  20. Julie says:

Thank you so much, Rachel! You are very kind. ♥ I’m delighted to know that you enjoy the site so much, and find it useful. I hope you enjoy visiting the locations, and indeed meeting our wonderful cast and crew. We couldn’t ask for a nicer bunch of people to be associated with our show – they are all gorgeous both inside and out! I’m sure you’ll love encountering them in person, and they’ll enjoy meeting you as well.

Wishing you Peace, Love and Magic right back… ♥

  21. Carol says:

Hey Julie (Should I call you aunt?)
Thanks a lot for your encouragement.I will study English more hard and hope I can speak with foreigners smoothly in the future. In all, you’re kind.

I think you’re also really really lucky because you have seen colin and written to him.How do you writte to him? e-mail or else? You know we also want to writte to colin or bradley!

…Some Merlin’s fans and I talked this film again.even some of us are planning to visit Merlin filming locations. It’s my dream but not daydream ,I’m sure I will go there one day. perhaps I can meey you ,haha ~

ps: Today is Valentine’s Day in china ,but most of chinese are sad because of disaster …

    Best wishes ♥

  22. Julie says:

Hello, Carol! Thank you so much, but just ‘Julie’ will be fine… :-) I am sure you mean ‘aunt’ fondly, but I already feel old, one of the ancients in a very young fandom – I don’t want to make that feeling any worse! :-D

I have written to both Colin and Bradley care of their agent’s address, which I will copy below. In fact, maybe I should do a post about the cast addresses for correspondence, as I have been asked before about it. I should warn you that both the young men seem to have backlogs of mail to get through, so you probably won’t get a speedy response! They are with the same agent, so they have the same address:

    Colin Morgan [or Bradley James!]
c/o United Agents – Client Contact
    12–26 Lexington Street
    London
    W1F 0LE

It would be wonderful if your dream came true, and you could visit some of these beautiful locations. I’m sure you would enjoy it! And of course I would love to meet you if ever we are in the same place at the same time.

I wish you peace and comfort for today, and a return to happiness for tomorrow. You and your fellows are in our thoughts. ♥

  23. mini merlin says:

    Hello Karl,
i was wondering where did you get the fan mail addresse from? i m really keen to write to them :)
    Regards
    Minimerlin
    x

  24. Julie says:

Hello again, mini merlin… Sorry for the delay in replying. It’s been a busy week!

Karl and his family have indeed had lots of luck with their responses from our lovely cast. Given the level of interest in this topic, I have started up a new entry here which lists the fanmail addresses that I am aware of. I wish you luck!

  25. Ann says:

    Hello Julie,

This isn’t really location relevant, but may I suggest SFX magazine issue 200 which is published today. Buy it and go directly to page 74, it’s worth it. And September is coming,
but – ” O methinks how slow this old moon wanes”

  26. Julie says:

Thank you for the heads-up, Ann! I’ll go track down a copy of SFX asap…

Oh, September! To me it feels like it’s rushing down upon me and I’m all unprepared! But I am still eagerly anticipating… :-D ♥

  27. Ann says:

Hope you enjoy the article, and as for the double page photo surely you were there when that scene was being shot and could hear it ? certainly it promises to be dramatic.

  28. Maddie says:

Hi! I’m from Australia so we don’t get to see or hear much from Merlin… Thank God for websites like these! Do you know how I would go about posting a letter to one of the cast? I have the address but someone said you have to include coupons or something… :S

Also, with the link to the BBC Press Office, do you know what it says?? My computer won’t let me go onto the BBC website for some random reason… Curse being so far away over in Australia!

Thank you so much for what you are doing! :D

  29. Julie says:

G’day, Maddie! I’m an Aussie, too, though living in the UK at the moment. :-)

I’m really glad you’re finding this website to be useful. And coincidentally, I have just recently posted an entry about fanmail, which includes info about those pesky little International Reply Coupons – you can read it here.

The BBC press release simply gives a start date and then a surprisingly long synopsis of the first episode. Do you want to be spoiled…? If so, maybe you can see it on the Spoiler TV site.

Thank you for your kind words! ♥

  30. Julie says:

Morning, Ann! I haven’t managed to get my magazine yet, but from what you say it sounds like a big fight scene, shot at night in the town set below the Chateau…? If so, yes! It certainly sounded wonderfully dramatic. Oh, I am so looking foward to this coming season… ♥

  31. Ann says:

Yes that’s it. Midnight and the town’s aflame – to the barricades, er chaps – :D
